He shook his head, and my heart sank. But he wasn’t denying the truth of my words. “You’re right,” he said, voice thick.


“Of course I am.” I smiled at him brightly, and he grinned back. I leaned forward and kissed him softly. A few days for Mason to recover, and maybe, just maybe, I’d finally get a chance to start the life I’d always wanted. One with a person who really cared about me. Broken bones aside, it was going to be a darn good week.
